Charlotte Lodge No. 97 received its charter from the Tennessee Grand Lodge on October 6, 1842.
We meet at 7 p.m. on the Saturday on or before the full moon. Practices are on Mondays at 7 p.m.
In former times, when roads were poor and traveling difficult, many Masonic lodges met on the date of the full moon or, in some instances, a certain number of days before or after the full moon. That way those going to and from lodge meetings might have the light of the moon to make the journey safer and easier.
Charlotte #97 is the only Tennessee lodge that continues that tradition.
